Crime Prevention in Portland, Oregon

Portland is a unique city! You have heard people say this for many different reasons. I am saying it because it is truly unique and diverse and our neighborhood system is a reflection of this. The City of Portland has 95 recognized neighborhood associations. Those neighborhood associations are divided up and rest under the umbrella of Neighborhood Coalitions that provide support to these motivated, engaged neighbors.

The City of Portland has a bureau called the Office of Neighborhood Involvement. One of the programs in this bureau is the Crime Prevention program. Currently, 12 Crime Prevention Coordinators are supporting the 95 neighborhoods in Portland! The neighborhoods are divided up among the 12 of us and we try our best to work in offices that are close to or located within the neighborhoods that we support.

Crime Prevention Coordinators are professional problem solvers who work with multiple agencies, including the Portland Police Bureau, to help you resolve crime issues in your neighborhood, improve livability and offer a number of trainings and resources.
